This essay aims in essence to echo what the late great Hispanist Albert A. Sicroff suggested in an article published over forty years ago, in the winter preceding Américo Castro's death. Sicroff said of Castro, "Despite his critics, he has made formidable contributions toward understanding what went on within that Spanish morada vital to produce some of the most magnificent expressions of human existence the world has known."
