From the document: The original design of this project was as an oral history. Indeed, in my proposal I stated that “Native Americans who retain the stories, recollections, and remembered traditions of their individual tribes and cultures are rapidly disappearing.” And while I thought I might discover existing memories or stories about the region, it was clear from the beginning that recollections specific to locales within the Park and surrounding area did not exist.
