The Octofoil is the offical publication of the Ninth Infantry Division Association, Inc., an organization formed by the officers and men of the 9th Infantry Division in order to perpetuate the memory of fallen comrades, preserve the esprit de corps of the Division, promote peace and serve as an information bureau about the 9th Infantry Division. The Association is made up of 9th Infantry veterans from WWII and Vietnam, spouses, widows and lineal descendants.

Obituary of Rev. Joseph T. O'Callahan (May 15, 1905-March 18, 1964), a Jesuit priest who served as a chaplain in the United States Navy and as a professor at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Fr. O'Callahan was the first military chaplain to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. He died in Worcester and was buried in the Jesuit cemetery on the Holy Cross campus.

This reflection provides a biographical sketch of Rev. Joseph T. O'Callahan, S.J., a Jesuit priest who taught mathematics and physics at the College of the Holy Cross. During World War II, Fr. O'Callahan was commissioned as a chaplain in the United States Navy and was serving aboard the USS Franklin when the ship was attacked.
