The Goose
Desert Pool {If every desert was once a sea} is a site-specific art project by Canadian artist Karen Miranda Abel completed in 2016 while artist-in-residence at Joya: arte + ecología, an arts-led research centre situated in an alpine desert within a national park in southern Spain. The elemental installation represents an envisioning of the ancient sea that occupied the Sierra de María-Los Vélez Natural Park millions of years before the current desert ecology, a time when its highest mountain peaks may have been islands.

The Tapestry Of Memory, Kathryn M. Lawson
The Tapestry Of Memory, Kathryn M. Lawson
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository
Rationality points to the complete annihilation and end of a life when the body perishes, and yet when a loved one dies we continue to experience that person in a myriad of ways. The focus of this thesis will be a phenomenological exploration of the earthly afterlife of those we have loved and lost. By positing the subject as always intersubjective and as temporal in nature, this thesis will investigate how we continue to create and interact with the deceased upon the earth. In the introduction, this work will be placed in the context of the phenomenological tradition. The first …

Design Plan For The Sawmill Town History Wing At The Texas Forestry Museum, Kendall D. Gay
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin, Texas is the only forestry museum in the state. It preserves artifacts and educates visitors about Texas’ forest industry history. The museum has a Sawmill Town History Wing that is outdated and in need of a refreshing exhibit design based on current best practices. Using a previous museum audit as a guide, the new exhibit will have better flow, panel aesthetics, content, and interactive elements. By creating a new exhibit, the museum is better able to educate and entertain the visitors about Texas’ forest industry history.

2017 Storytellers’ Institute
Each year the MDOCS Storytellers’ Institute celebrates documentary work and practice around a centralized theme. For the inaugural Institute in 2015 we explored whose stories get told, delving into family and storytelling. In 2016, the Institute considered what constitutes documentary, considering the lines between fact and fiction. For the third Institute in June 2017, MDOCS invited documentary creators whose work engages with the where of documentary, the operation of SPACE & PLACE.
Spaces matter: streets, kitchens, forests, schools, offices, hospitals, mountaintops, ocean floors. Anywhere that people live, work, play, worship, create, and cross provides the context of …
