For this assignment, I wanted to tell a story of a girl unraveling the stories of the abandon kingdom she's entering. I went a surreal, atmospheric theme for this playlist so I can capture the curios yet ominous journey that the character is about to face. The song that I choose to reflect the illustration was White Palace by Christopher Larkin. The setting has a monochromatic scheme of grays while the character had dulled out colors to show that she's out of place. The character is about to cross the bridge, making her way towards the palace.

The Effects Of School-Based Art Therapy On Depressed Adolescents, Jasmine Nicolas
Nursing | Student Research Posters
Depression in adolescents is associated with deficient behavioral and health outcomes (Fletcher, 2019). Art therapy has been shown to be effective in treating mental health condition such as depression. A student’s academic success heavily depends on treating their depression. Community health nurses can play a vital role in advocating for adequate mental health support to improve a student’s overall well-being and academic success. The literature review contains six articles on the prevalence and impact of depression among adolescents, art therapy as an intervention for improving psychological outcomes and resilience among adolescents, and experiences of adolescent clients in art therapy within …

In 2022 we are living through a global pandemic, and vaccines are one of the most effective strategies for slowing the spread of infectious disease, minimizing symptoms, and lowering healthcare demands. In short, vaccines save lives and can reduce the risk of contagion from social interaction.
In the United States in late 2021, after the vaccines had been broadly available for almost a year, one in five adults still chose not to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Art can disrupt what is embedded in our minds and open us up to new perspectives and insights. We hope to offer access to …

Tangled Roots: Exploring Appalachian Feminisms, Magenta Palo
Graduate Thesis Exhibition Catalogue Gallery, 2022
Women have long been overlooked as key figures in the cultural history of Appalachia. The exhibition Tangled Roots: Exploring Appalachian Feminisms seeks to examine the ways in which women artists across the region have kept traditions alive while redefining creative practices that were once seen strictly as “women’s work.” In particular, the exhibition aims to explore how women have reimagined “craft” through skillful attention to materials, manual dexterity, and application of critical and conceptual rigor. The concept of craft is defined in this context to include all hand-made work that requires developed skills, whether they belong to traditional craft-based practices …

Johannes von Gumppenberg Books
From 2008 through 2013 Johannes led an extracurricular seminar in the Circle of Scholars at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. As usual, every year and for every presentation he prepared full teaching notes and copious slides and handouts. In the middle years, from 2010 through 2013, he started these Letters underlying the seminars: "As I thought about my own work as an artist and my eyesight weakened, I ventured to write down my understanding of Visual Art, and decided to write the essays as personal letters to my fellow artist."
Johannes often said this would provide the needed …

Minimum Capacity, Sandra Reed
Minimum Capacity, Sandra Reed
Art & Design Student Research
Students in this project were inspired to create an exhibition for which the exhibition venue would be filled to maximum capacity on the night of the reception in April. However, by the time that the students returned from their trip to NYC, it became clear that the COVID-19 pandemic would make that exhibition impossible. In response, while retaining “maximum capacity” as the motivating prompt, the students pivoted and created new work for this zine rather than for a traditional exhibition. By definition, the zine is small yet the students’ work addresses important topics such as infrastructure, possessions, technology, femininity, stereotypes, …

This book documents the paintings and drawings executed by Louis Agassiz Fuertes during the Field Museum of Natural History’s seven-month expedition to Ethiopia (Abyssinia) in 1926–27.
