The following research addresses the lack of availability in diverse skin tone options for performance fabric. The project will discuss the struggles people of color face when finding fabrics that accurately match their skin tone and the difficulties in sourcing the materials needed to successfully design a garment. The research gathered will be used to produce a collection of 4 looks using nude mesh fabrics that are readily available to the average consumer. Join Lesley students and faculty in a discussion of the leading role Haiti has played in struggles against slavery and colonialism in the Americas and globally; its historic and consistent rejections of white supremacist values and dangerous stereotypes in the contemporary moment; and the lived experiences of Haitians working as artists, therapists, learners, teachers, here at Lesley who draw on pioneering Haitian models of epistemology and ontology—on Haitian sources of strength, community, resilience, and vision. This poster will illustrate the student engaged experience utilized by Kansas State University for its Multicultural Student Center. It will delineate the campus "community" partnership and the empowerment process initiated by the multicultural student organizations that led to the preliminary building design and fundraising strategies by the University. It will also address how multiple communities in a university can engage in a creative, collaborative process that not only fosters inclusion but also student learning. Ultimately, it shows how student collaboration with University Administration can result in both intended and unexpected outcomes for all involved, especially impacts for beyond stated expectations.

The “Question Bridge: Black Males” is an interactive, transmedia dialogue among a critical mass of black men. The project began in 2012 as a documentary and has since evolved into an interactive website and mobile app in which black males of all ages and backgrounds ask and respond to questions about experiences via a video camera. The project is designed to breakdown the negative perceptions of black males and create a safe space for honest dialogue and healing.
