The artist-in-residence in the Fall of 2019-2020 was Mr Nunzio Paci, an Italian artist whose paintings and drawings bring out unexpected connections between human or animal anatomy on the one hand, and plants and flowers on the other hand. The intertwining of the human form with other natural forms is a motif in Art Nouveau art, but Paci’s drawing style seems to owe more to Renaissance anatomical and botanical drawings such as Leonardo da Vinci’s.

Moreover, like Leonardo, Paci relies on close observation, for example, of anatomical wax models and even genuine human corpses. In other words, he draws from …

The sculptures displayed in this exhibition demonstrate knowledge transfer and cultural exchange between Aleksandar and Lingnan students in the process of creating site-specific works. They are largely made by timber from Chi Kee Sawmill & Timber, which was founded in North Point on Hong Kong Island in 1947, but later relocated to Chai Wan and then its current site in Kwu Tong, Sheung Shui in 1982. If art is a reflection of the creator, then Wong’s work is a visual collage of influences from East and West. 《後桃花源記》是一個涉及許多不同層次的交流計劃，當中包括來自韓國釜山和香港錦田的6個藝術單位(5位藝術家和1個藝術組合)、12位來自嶺南大學視覺研究系的學生。他們在2015年2月底前往韓國釜山參觀當地不同的藝術機構、藝術空間和藝術院校，與當中一些藝術家、策劃人和藝術學生對談。在交流過程中，大家都不難發現香港和釜山，這兩個遠離國家首都的沿海城市，所面對因城市發展和重建而產生的問題，均十分相似。在3月份，兩位來自釜山的藝術家:金大洪和金美英也進駐錦田。各藝術家與參與學生一起在錦田進行創作，並於2015年3月21和22日，把作品在地呈現，之後更以文獻方式在C&G藝術單位展示。

‘In Search of the Peachland’ is an art exchange project involving many different layers of idea exchanges amongst different parties: including 6 art units from Kam Tin and Busan (5 artists and 1 artist group), 12 students from the Visual Studies Department of Lingnan University. They went to Busan for a field trip in the end of February, 2015, to visit different art organizations and art students in Busan. Postcards between Friends, an exhibition of extraordinary postcards. They're real postcards, complete with stamps, postmarks, and wear and tear, but they're special in three ways. First, they are all hand-drawn. Second, every postcard is a collaboration between at least two people. And third, every postcard has been through the mail at least twice.

The process works like this. One artist starts a drawing and, without adding any verbal instructions or commentary, mails it to another. The second artist finds the postcard in her mailbox, completes the drawing, and mails it back to the sender. The results are surprising because …

Colours of Dementia was a trial art facilitation programme for dementia care in a community setting led by Prof. Sophia Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Visual Studies at Lingnan University. The programme was supported by the Hong Kong Alzheimer's Disease Association (HKADA) and Art for All. The funding came from Prof. Law's Education for Service-learning Faculty Award (2013) from the Lingnan Foundation.

The programme, which ran from December 2013 to June 2014, consisted of a series of eighteen specially designed creative workshops for 14 elders, aged 59 to 94, who were suffering from mild to advanced dementia. A …

A major component of Wonderment is the first showing of work done as part of my multimedia MEOAW Project: My Extraordinary Onomatopoeic Animal World. Onomatopoeic words mimic the sounds they represent; the sound of the word imitates the sound the object makes. The words are creations of our human minds and in different cultures and languages the words for the same sounds differ. The Lingnan University community responded enthusiastically to my call for volunteers to participate in the MEAOW project. I have spent many happy hours collecting and recording sound and video from members of this wonderful, culturally-diverse population.

《創作無障礙》是一項兩年的藝術倡導計劃，由東華三院屯門綜合服務中心與嶺南大學視覺研究系合辦，為屯門區有讀寫障礙(dyslexia)的初中學生設計為期一學年共二十節的藝術創作倡導工作坊，目的是為他們提供一處無障礙的創作平台，透過愉悅的創作過程，以及完成作品賦與的滿足感，促進他們認識自己先天的限制與天賦，發掘自己的潛能，肯定自我，增加自信。計劃分兩輪進行，參與計劃的學校共三間，包括東華三院鄺錫坤伉儷中學、中華基督教會譚李麗芬紀念中學和鐘聲慈善社胡陳金枝中學。其中鄺錫坤伉儷中學參與了兩輪的計劃， 譚李麗芬紀念中學參與了第一年、胡陳金枝中學參與了第二年的計劃。兩學年度一共有四十五位(二十九男、十六女)學生完成計劃。

為了增進家長和老師對讀寫障礙的認識，計劃期間先後舉辦了三次有關「創作與讀寫障礙」的座談會，讓主辦機構、學者和藝術倡導者與參與計劃的學生家長和老師分享計劃的理念、過程和成果。三次座談會的氣氛相當熱烈，尤其是最後一次老師的參與和意見，對促進家長和主辦機構的溝通起了很大的作用。藝術倡導者在會上就個別同學在計劃中的表現與他們的家長交換意見， 有助他們了解同學在學習上面對的困難，明白同學的潛能。

兩輪計劃在完結時都籌辦一次展覽，展出計劃中學生創作的話劇表演和藝術作品，讓家長、老師、以至社會人士能夠看到讀寫障礙學生的創意和能力，並加以肯定，使得參與的學生在計劃過程中已經建立的自我和信心，在計劃完結後能夠得到家長和老師持續的鼓勵，日後在生活和學習上幫助他們發展長處，推動他們的動力去面對困難。

序

去年仲夏，我和旅居柏林的藝術家朋友葉立榮，合作參予了一個在外蒙古舉行，由德國藝術策展人籌辦，名為「首屆地景藝術雙年展：蒙古360°」的地景作品展，我們的作品題材及內容，均和人類、環境、現代生活生態、大自然等息息相關，由個人經歷、自身文化、處境出發，對現世人類週遭的環境破壞和失衡，與及大自然規律反應的種種後果，所作出的反思和討論。

今秋，我很榮幸被香港嶺南大學視覺研究系邀請作駐校藝術家，為此我特地邀請葉立榮再一次合作，製作相討了好一陣子的「移山」裝置藝術展覽。

我和葉立榮是中學同學，可說有着共同的起步點：少年時已酷愛中國藝術哲學，學習中國水墨畫，和對當代藝術充滿好奇。我倆都是同一代的人，香港土生土長，居住環境狹窄，生活在都市齷齪擠逼的小空間內，想像及考慮着中國畫和中國藝術哲學中的審美、自然、空間，與及外面不一樣的世界。我倆分享着共同年代中，個人及集體的回憶，我們的文化背景扎根點似乎是相當一致的。後來葉立榮到芝加哥藝術學院修讀，再移居德國，我則一直留在香港。經過長時間的分隔和各自的經歷、成長，然後意外地重逢。從此之後，在不斷的對話和討論中，互相重新發現各自對藝術、人生、大自然，種種我們不約而同重視的課題的考慮、看法、着眼點，和藝術表達上的異同，繼而發展出合作的可行性。

是次「移山」裝置藝術展覽，是我們相討蘊釀了好些時候的結果。對我倆來說，它有着象徵意義：我們覺得，人的現實不易改變，例如香港肆意填海，帶來對生活環境不可恢復的破壞、全球人類社會的各種災難及困局等；藝術則給予我們在另一層面上一個改變的機會。我們的作品所表達的，面貌和手法可能各異，但在其精神上所，可算是殊途同歸的。

Visual Studies at Lingnan University answers the growing interest in Arts & Humanities research with relevance to society by emphasizing environmenal aesthetics, Chinese art, Art and Well-being, and "research expression." Time with the Sky | 與天度日 is an art and poetry collaboration by Carol Archer and Christopher (Kit) Kelen, a creative team who have been active in the visual arts and poetry communities of Hong Kong and Macao since 1998.
