God's Faithfulness On The Journey: Reflections By Rostered Women Of Color, Rosetta E. Ross

Expressing stories of joy and pain, thankfulness and celebration, “God’s Faithfulness on the Journey” explores the stories of more than 40 ELCA rostered women of color. The essay-style collection of stories, poems, music and imagery gives voice to the women of color who serve faithfully throughout the church. The narratives chronicle a shared experience through the church’s call process while honoring the families, mentors and supporters who journeyed with them and give praise to an always faithful God.

The majority of this collection consists of the handwritten and typed poetry of Martha Carpenter Miller. Many of the poems underwent multiple edits and rewrites, and her notes and corrections to her poems are included in this collection. The collection spans the years 1898-1962, with the bulk of the material from the 1930s-1950s. Miller wrote extensively, and the collection includes poems and partial poems, ideas, and short verses written on scrap paper, envelopes, paper towels, carboard, postcards, and various other types of paper.
