From Ghanaian Modernist Painting Genre To Contemporary Functionality: A Spotlight On Samuel Prophask Asamoah, Dickson Adom, Mavis Osei, Joe Adu-Agem

This is a biographic study of Samuel Prophask Asamoah, one of Ghana's remarkable artists. It was aimed at showing how his philosophy and technique of painting are influenced by the early Ghanaian modernist painting genre while explaining how his themes reflected contemporary functionality in Ghana. The Feldman system of criti-cism guided the scholarly analysis of five selected paintings of Asamoah to unearth their contemporary significance. Personal interviews with Asamoah, as well as the intelligent comparison of his works with his contemporaries and other published scholarly literature, pivoted the intellectual discussions of his skillfully executed paintings. The Forgotten Heritage Of The Rattanakosin Area, Piyamas Lernapakun

In order to safeguard the vanishing traditions and the history of a city, it is necessary to document and record the forgotten heritage. The aim of this study is to raise public awareness of the cultural significance of the Rattanakosin area including ancient wangs (mansions) and shophouses endangered by the development of urban projects and the lack of good management leading to their deterioration. This includes Crown Property Bureau's assets of historical buildings on Rattanakosin Island. "Art Access and Advocacy," the theme of Urban Research Plaza's 11th international forum, implies the development of access channels through the arts, which enable the participation of socially disadvantaged persons in social activities and ultimately result in the making of a highly communal society. In this article, I will discuss the social context from which this theme emerged. In addition, I will consider the importance of arts management in a few concrete examples.

In this text I take the liberty to present Transposition, a large-scale cultural exchange program that was founded in 2006, with the aim of improving the links between the Vietnamese and Norwegian music scenes. Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the project is today the largest international music project supported by the Norwegian government, and employ or involve several hundred musician and students every year, through teaching, performance, creating or disseminating music in Vietnam and Norway.
