The history of systemic racism against Indigenous peoples in Northern Ontario is an important area of research in relation to Canada’s immigration goals and outcomes. The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) was introduced in 2019 and seeks to welcome hundreds of working immigrants to five Northern Ontario cities over the next five years. Unfortunately, Northern Ontario has obstacles that may prevent a smooth transition for incoming Immigrants. For example, Northern Ontario’s previous and current racist treatment towards Indigenous peoples exemplifies the region’s troubles with fostering social cohesion. Contrary to the common notion that Muslims are fundamentalist, anti-modern, and against Western norms (hence their opposition to secularism), this paper argues that Muslims are not homogeneous. Therefore, their approach to secularism is not a matter of their assumed fixed religiosity. One recognises that, after seeing the Ahmadiyya Muslim community endorsing secular values in Canada, the assumption that Muslims coming to the West are anti-secular is misleading. Introduction

Affective reactions frequently reported by adolescents who stutter include embarrassment, frustration, and feelings of anxiety about further stuttering. It is possible that music therapy may enhance stuttering treatment outcomes; however, little is known about how individuals who stutter, and therapists working with this group, view such therapy. The purpose of this study was to explore individuals who stutter and therapist experiences with, and perceptions of, music and music therapy for stuttering. This work is part of a larger mixed-methods project to explore the effectiveness and potential benefit of music therapy with adolescents who stutter.

Since its founding in 2008, W.A.G.E. (Working Artists and the Greater Economy) has worked to reform the economic habits of US art institutions and of the artists upon whose cultural work these institutions are dependent. Inside a decade, W.A.G.E. went from a small grassroots collective to an internationally recognized, yet lean, organization, which not only advocates for labour standards in the nonprofit art sector, but also develops practical tools to begin the work of doing better by equality in the art world.
