She writes of her enjoyment of missionary work and describes activities at the Triennial Conference for Baptist Young People in progress in Shanghai. She also notes with regret the recent closing of the Burma Road, used to supply China in its conflict with Japan. Features illustrated stationery and envelope, and includes a souvenir bookmark from the Young People’s Conference.

From Camp Wood, Kentucky, he writes of the rainy and snowy weather; the number of soldiers sick in company regiments; he describes his regiment and his brigade commander as being the best in the division. He comments about the regiment being on guard duty and held in reserve to protect a bridge and ferry on Green River. In camp at Bowling Green, Kentucky, the unhappy soldier writes of the threat of death from battle and disease, of “tyrannical” officers, and of a debt owed to him at home. He is angered to learn that an uncle in Fostoria, Ohio is a secessionist. He also mentions his brother Jacob’s engagement in a “big fight” lasting five days.

Collection contains flyers and digital photographs taken at the Community Heritage Day event held on 4 November 2017 at the Kentucky Building in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The event—sponsored by the Kentucky Folklife Program, WKU Library Special Collections, the Kentucky Museum, and a National Endowment for the Humanities Common Heritage grant—invited the general public to bring in items that were “significant to your family or our community story.” Materials were digitized, uploaded onto flash drives, and given to participants for personal, long-term accessibility. He reminds them of their obligation to represent the congregation at the next meeting of the Logan Presbytery, expresses affection and gratitude for his six years at the church, and regrets that “the call of duty” compels him to accept another pastorate.
