The Hazzard Shoe Company was founded by Robert P. Hazzard about 1906. The company bought out Emerson Shoe Company in 1931. The company went out of business about 1973.
The collection includes business and financial records of the Hazzard Shoe Company of Augusta and Gardiner, Maine. Also includes records of the Emerson Shoe Company.

Records document the life and death of Wyatt J. Weed, originally of Veazie, Maine. Included are official government papers and awards stemming from his election to the Maine State Legislature and his membership in the Militia of Maine's band. Weed's family was involved in logging and this collection contains records directly related to the business, including memorandums and financial records, as well as original land deeds.

In 1984, University of Maine President Arthur Johnson appointed a Promotion Committee to study the University's promotional activities. As part of its work the Committee assessed the number, purpose, and quality of publications produced across the University of Maine campus for off-campus distribution. This collections contains copies of various University of Maine department publications that were submitted to the Promotion Committee for review.
