In January 2015, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to inventory and evaluate archeological resources within the footprint of proposed improvements to East Pecan Street in Pflugerville, Travis County, Texas. The proposed project would provide base repairs and include widening a portion of East Pecan Street. The portion of the project area that includes the widening extends from State Highway (SH) 130 to Weiss Lane; base repairs would include a concrete underlay that would extend east of Weiss Lane toward the intersection of Cameron Lane. Horizon Environmental Services, Inc. (Horizon) was selected by Pflugerville Independent School District (ISD) to conduct an intensive cultural resources inventory and assessment of the proposed locations of Pflugerville ISD’s Timmeran Elementary School and Regional Stadium. The proposed Timmeran Elementary School tract consists of an approximately 6.6-hectare (16.3- acre) tract located northeast of and adjacent to the proposed Regional Stadium tract, which covers an area of approximately 15.0 hectares (37.1 acres). In conjunction with the proposed construction of the southwest segment of State Highway 45 in southern Travis County, the Texas Department of Transportation sponsored archeological testing and data recovery efforts at the Ransom Williams farmstead. Prewitt and Associates, Inc., conducted an interdisciplinary community-based historic archeological study of the farmstead from 2005 through 2011. Extensive archival research reveals that the 45-acre farm was owned and occupied by Ransom Williams and his wife Sarah, both former slaves, from about 1871 to ca. 1905. Hicks & Company archaeologists, working on behalf of Travis County, recently conducted an archaeological survey for the proposed Cameron Road Improvements Project from Gregg Lane to State Highway (SH) 130, in Travis County, Texas (Figure 1). According to current design plans, the existing two-lane road is to be expanded to a four-lane arterial road. The existing roadway is an undivided facility with one travel lane in each direction and no shoulders. The proposed project would construct two 3.50 meter (11 feet) wide lanes in each direction, bike lanes, concrete curbs and gutters, and sidewalks on both sides of the road. …

At the request of Leander Independent School District, Atkins North America, Inc. (Atkins) conducted an intensive cultural resources survey of a 23-acre tract in northwestern Travis County, Texas, between the cities of Jonestown and Cedar Park. The project area is proposed for future construction of Leander Independent School District’s Travisso School Project. This investigation was conducted under Texas Antiquities Permit No. 7093. No cultural resources sites were located, and no artifacts were collected. Field records will be curated at the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory. Cultural resource clearance is recommended for the project.

The proposed High School No. 4 tract consists of an approximately 65.3-hectare (161.4-acre) tract located off the southeast side of Weiss Lane between Jesse Bohls Drive to the northeast and Pflugerville Road to the southwest in eastern Pflugerville, Travis County, Texas. The project area would consist of the entire 65.3-hectare (161.4-acre) tract.

On behalf of Brookfield Residential, SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA) conducted an intensive cultural resources investigation of the proposed Pilot Knob Wastewater Interceptor Project in southeast Austin, Travis County, Texas. The project involves the construction of a roughly 2.1-mile-long wastewater interceptor line with an 80-foot temporary and 40-foot permanent easement, and encompasses 20.0 acres. The project has two components: the initial 1.7-mile-long wastewater interceptor and the additional 0.34- mile-long Phase 2 extension.

In January and April 2014, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to inventory and evaluate archeological resources within six proposed work areas, primarily potential shaft locations, along a proposed 3.7-kilometer (km) or 2.8-mile wastewater interceptor pipeline adjacent to Parmer Lane, also known as Farm-to-Market (FM) Road 734 in northwest Austin, Travis and Williamson Counties, Texas. The six areas—two along the southwest side of Parmer Lane and four along the northeast side—cover a total of 9.7 hectares or 24 acres. In August and September 2015, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to inventory and evaluate archeological resources within the footprint of proposed wastewater improvements east of Pflugerville in northern Travis County, Texas. The proposed improvements would occur along segments of two separate lines: an interceptor line and a re-routed segment of a previously analyzed force main line. The archeological area of potential effects (APE) includes the footprints of both segments, which cover a total area of approximately 6.2 hectares (ha) or 15.4 acres (ac). Hicks & Company archeologists, working on behalf of K. Friese + Associates and the City of Austin (COA), recently conducted an archeological survey supplemented with shovel testing in undisturbed locations for the COA’s proposed Burleson Road Pressure Conversion project (Figure 1). According to current design plans, pipe will be installed through open-cut trenching with a northern terminus at East Riverside Drive and a southern terminus at Burleson Road within a 10 meter-wide construction corridor. This report documents the results of an archeological resource survey along a three-mile segment of Blake Manor Road in advance of improvements involving road widening to enhance the overall safety and capacity of the roadway. The survey was conducted in compliance with the Antiquities Code of Texas under Permit No. 7260. Archeologists from AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. (AmaTerra) visually inspected the entire Area of Potential Effects and excavated 108 shovel tests in support of the survey. No new archeological sites were discovered as a result of the survey, although two isolated artifacts were documented and one previously recorded site (41TV2009) was …
