Jarvis and friends in Athens County, Ohio, written while he was serving with the 3rd Ohio Infantry. He describes in detail the advance of his and other regiments on Bowling Green, Kentucky, their engagements with Confederate forces, and the destruction wrought by the Confederates during their retreat.
