The Sabbath And The Most Prominent Magisterial Reformers, P. Gerard Damsteegt
The Sabbath And The Most Prominent Magisterial Reformers, P. Gerard Damsteegt
Faculty Publications
This paper focuses on the Reformers’ views on the Sabbath at Creation, instruction of proper and improper Sabbath observance throughout the Scriptures, reasons for the abolition of the Sabbath, and finally, reasons for the change of the weekly day of worship from Saturday to Sunday. As much as possible, this research will use the primary works of the Reformers. The views of these Reformers will be dealt with chronologically, which means that, generally, the positions of the early Reformers on the various aspects of the Sabbath will be discussed first, and will be followed by those who wrote later.

Will The World End In 2012? A Survival Guide To Maya Prophecies, Felix H. Cortez

During the decade of the 1960s a Maya Monument was found in El Tortuguero, Tabasco, Mexico, in which reference was made to the end of the thirteenth calendric cycle on 4 Ahaw 3 Unii, or December 21, 2012. The reference is important because it points to the end of an impressively long Maya calendric cycle of 5,126 years, which is also the winter solstice. This reference and the well-known Maya interest in astronomical phenomena and prophecies has spurred wide speculations and claims that the Maya prophesied the end of the world as we know it towards the end of 2012. …

McGlothlin is a variant spelling of McLaughlin, a name with both Irish and Scottish origins. McLaughlin is the Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Lochlainn, ‘son of the Scandinavian’, from the personal name Lochlann. Lochlann, a personal name meaning ‘stranger’, originally denoting a Scandinavian from the west of Norway (a Viking) or the Norse (Viking)-dominated part of Scotland.
In Irish Gaelic, the adjectival noun, ‘Lochlannach’ has the additional sense of robber/raider/marauder’. To further confuse the origin of the name, in Ireland some of the McLaughlins were originally O’Melaghlin – descendants of the King of Meath (Wikepedia; www.familyeducation.com).

120 Since the creation of the first Adventist Universities early in the second half of the twentieth century, the Seventh-day Adventist church has engaged in scientific re- search in several secular and theological scholarly disciplines that involve the use of human reason and methodologies. Because, normally, researchers select and use methodologies based on the current consensus of their scholarly disciplines, we have to assume Adventist scholars do the same. Seldom do scientists take time to analyze, evaluate, and criticize the intellectual tools they use. This article deals with the necessity of implement a biblical epistemology for developing researches with an …
