This book describes a two-year collaborative research project between the Helen Hamlyn Centre at the Royal College of Art and Bupa. It explores how better product and environment design can improve quality of life for care home residents with dementia. The design ideas developed are a practical response to the challenge of congnitive decline and can be retrofitted to existing care homes as well as applied to new developments.

This thesis presents the scenic design for Macbeth written by William Shakespeare. The play was produced by the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and performed in the Howell Theatre on April 17, 2003 through April 26, 2003. The written portion of the thesis is divided into sections: The Play and Synopsis, Scene Deisgn Analysis including Time, Place, and Physical Needs, Design Concept, The Design Process, The Process of Realization, Reviews and Comments on the Scenic Design, and Self Evaluation.

This paper reports upon the design and implementation of a study of the way Australian newspaper journalists and their publications have dealt with vulnerable sources, particularly those from groups already identified as ‘vulnerable’ in Australian society. The Australian research into so-called ‘vulnerable’ sources has reinforced international studies identifying disability, post-trauma, mental illness, age and indigeneity as characteristics signalling individuals as worthy of special care when news events prompt journalists to seek their comments or portray them visually or textually in a story (see literature discussion below).
