Almost all letters concerned pending legislation, most notably: the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), car insurance, savings and loans reform, teacher retirement, and kindergarten. This collection includes a letter dated January 23, 1973, from future Governor Mike Huckabee when he was governor of Boys' State, a model government for high school seniors.

Problems In Epicurean Physics, David Konstan

The Society for Ancient Greek Philosophy Newsletter

This article treats several problems in Epicurean atomic theory, including how atoms rebound (the answer is that they must keep moving at a uniform speed and simply move in another direction when impeded), the role of minima in defining the boundaries of an atom and accounting for its impenetrability and why adjacent atoms do not merge, and the explanation of atomic weight as a tendency of atoms emerging from collisions to move in a preferred direction, which is by definition “down.”

The book attempts a synthesis of several areas: the Homeric (a recap of Beyeʹs earlier Iliad, Odyssey and Epic Tradition, with some other material), forty pages of good background material on fifth‐century Athens, Herodotus and Thucydides, Tragedy (including Euripides), Comedy (also including Euripides. Justly, I think), and, for the sake of the contrast, Professor Beye includes the Alexandrian literature, a good choice. Plato, though aptly fitted into the warp of the warp and woof of fifth‐century Athens, is otherwise deliberately omitted, another good choice. The Attic Orators are also consciously …

This is the program for the Instrumental Repertoire Class recital, held on December 10, 1976, in the Mabee Fine Arts Center Instrumental Room. The Ouachita Woodwind Quintet, including flautist Debbie Franks, clarinetist Debbie Huggs, oboist Shannon Scott, bassoonist Shirley Crumley, and horn player Jerry Wilson, and the Clarinet Quartet, including Debbie Huggs, Becky Huggs, David Borland, and Jo Beth Mertins, performed. Additional performers were clarinetist Kent Croswell, horn player Jerry Wilson, trumpet player Jimmy Blakley, tubist Bobby Boyles, and trumpet player Keith Rutledge.
