Race and Pedagogy Journal: Teaching and Learning for Justice
This paper is a call to university leaders across the United Kingdom to stand in solidarity with racialized and racially minoritized students by embracing humanizing and epistemically liberating practices that open up possibilities for authentic dialogue and action. This dialogue should seek to resist the barriers which have resulted in the marginalization, and often systemic discrimination of racially minoritized students within higher education. We seek to illuminate the revolutionary leadership of university students, who have initiated the movement toward racial representation, multiple truths, and a more equitable curriculum that subverts the violence of Western cognitive imperialism. John Kratus’ 2019 Music Educators Journal article "A Return to Amateurism in Music Education" contained what many may interpret as radical ideas to focus music education curriculum and instruction on amateurism. But upon further research, leaders within the profession have consistently affirmed the goals of amateurism. The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare themes of Kratus’ concept of amateurism with declarative statements of the two most recent National Association for Music Education leadership summits, which charted the profession's future. This study aimed to identify the standards of environmental education for the curriculum of geography of the tenth grade of basic education in Jordan. Besides, it aimed to ascertain the extent to which these standards are represented in this curriculum The study made use of the descriptive analytical research approach, taking the idea as a basis of content analysis, and the sentence as a basis of the analysis of objectives, methods of teaching activities and evaluation.
