Krill Watching, Michael J. Leach
Krill Watching, Michael J. Leach
The STEAM Journal
This is a concrete, or visual, found poem about the scientific activity of observing krill in the deep sea. I discovered this concrete found poem in prose that Nicol (2019, p. 200) quoted from Ommanney (1938).

Amir Husraf’S Literary Heritage In Applied Art Rituals, Feruza Nizamova
The Light of Islam
In the article Amir Khusrav Dekhlavi’s huge heritage in the ruba’i genre is tried to study briefly. The aim of the article is to study the ideological and artistic system of the poet’s works, to identify the poet’s skills in the ruba’i genre, and also to define the role of his writings in the history of Persian-Tajik literature through analyzing his ruba’is. The interest to the poet’s writings, including his ruba’is, is related to the …

Sink Hollow Volume 8
Sink Hollow
To make a magazine, we seek contrast and even the tension of contradiction.
We hunt for the words that defy experience, and experiences that defy words alone but must be captured by clever poetic contraptions and literary devices that violate the architecture of language and definitions in order to teach us what we can't know by conventional means. We crave the ingenious art of using words to drag meaning outside the semantic containment of words. There's contradiction! This is the skill of infusing words with the power to evoke emotion and connection. The work of the poet, the artist, the …

Feminist Friendship As An Affective Engagement Through The Arts: A Decolonial And Posthuman Becoming-With Rebeca Lane's Alma Mestiza, Miguel Ángel Blanco Martínez, Paola Mendoza Téllez-Girón

This paper considers friendship as an affective terrain of feminist alliance among subjects that belong to territories with a colonial record responding to the colonial/modern gender system (Lugones 2007) through the arts. Friendship is here conceptualized as an engagement of feminist solidarity unfolding within theoretical and practical models of change and resistance against the logics of cultural imperialism (Lugones and Spelman 1983). Turning friendship into a polyphonic feminist reaction, this work is conducted by acknowledging the need to foster dialogues where different authorial voices and feminist positionalities meet, reflect, and speak. The paper settles the encounter between its authors in …
