Don Parry reports that the Annotated Bibliography of the Book of Mormon that he and others have been working on for many months is in the final stages. When the indexing is completed (in the next two months), it will be ready to be presented to a publisher for consideration. Several publishers are being considered. Dale Le Baron, associate professor of Church History at BYU, discusses how the Book of Mormon presents "A Pattern for Preparing a People to Meet Christ." The Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies is in the last stages of negotiating an agreement with Oxford University Press and E. J. Brill (in the Netherlands) to jointly publish The Dead Sea Scrolls Electronic Reference Library. The FARMS Dead Sea Scrolls Electronic Database, currently under development with technical assistance from BYU, will be published as volume 2 in the series. The Review of Books on the Book of Mormon, published by FARMS since 1989, has attempted to assist students of the Book of Mormon by reviewing every significant publication about the Book of Mormon published each year. While that commitment remains unchanged, the focus of the reviews published in the last several issues has expanded to match the expanding interests of FARMS - first, the Book of Mormon, and then other ancient scripture and related topics; thus the name of the Review has been changed to the FARMS Review of Books to more accurately reflect this expanded focus.

This year marks the first time that FARMS has published its own books intended for the general LDS market. The first two were Book of Mormon Authorship Revisited: The Evidence for Ancient Origins and LDS Perspectives on the Dead Sea Scrolls. With this issue of the newsletter we release a third: Ancient Scrolls from the Dead Sea: Photographs and Commentary on a Unique Collection of Scrolls. Before 1997 is over we expect to release three more books (described on page 8).
