Changes in the geopolitical landscape and increasing technological complexity have prompted the U.S. Military to coin Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) and Joint All-Domain Command and Control as terms to describe an over-arching strategy that frames the complexity of warfare across both traditional and emerging warfighting domains. Teaching new and advanced concepts associated with these terms requires both innovation as well as distinct education and training tools in order to realize the cultural change advocated by senior military leaders. BSN, a Collectible Card Game, was developed to teach concepts integral to MDO and initiate discussion on military strategy.

Indirect photography is a recently demonstrated technique which expands on the principles of dual photography and allows for the imaging of hidden objects. A camera and light source are collocated with neither having line-of-sight access to the hidden object. Light from the source, a laser, is reflected off a visible non-specular surface onto the hidden object, where it is reflected back to the initial non-specular surface and collected by the camera. This process may be repeated numerous times for various laser spot positions to yield slightly different camera images due to a variation in the illumination of the object. These …

The purpose of this research effort was to investigate the application of certain principles of effective communication to improve the comprehension, and ultimately the usability, of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Principles from cohesion theory (an area of research describing effective design) were used to manipulate the design of select sections of two sample EISs. Each sample EIS was altered to manipulate the presence and/or absence of visual and linguistic cohesion. Subjects were required to read select versions from each section of the two sample EISs and answer four short answer questions. The dependent variables were accuracy in answering the …
