My journey with the Global Health Equity (GHE) internship program through the SASAH experiential learning program has been a transformative experience. This report encapsulates an exploration of the four years I have spent at the placement, outlining the evolution of skills, collaborations, and impactful projects that have strengthened my academic development and career aspirations. The following paper deals with reflecting on two different community-engaged-learning experiences, offered through Western University, that I had the privilege of completing during my final year. The first experience was working for Centre Marembo, an NGO in Kigali, Rwanda that specializes in the rehabilitation and education of abused girls. The second was assisting in writing a compilation of biographical stories for Single Women in Motherhood, a local London organization that aims to help single mothers succeed. As a fourth-year student in The School for Advanced Studies in the Arts and Humanities, I spent three months interning at a small non-profit in Toronto called Trinity Theatre. Trinity Theatre is a registered charitable organization in Toronto with a mandate to help youth develop resilience to overcome challenges and make successful transitions throughout their lives. I took a position as a communications intern and assistant during Trinity Theatre’s summer Leadership Lab for youth.
