The purpose of this thesis is to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of sacred Scriptures and revelation, and of the development or the view of sacred Scriptures and revelation dominant in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod through a study of the hermeneutical principles of Johann Christian Konrad von Hofmann with special reference to his influence on Georg Stoeckhardt.
