The crisis of German professional life under Hitler was especially fateful for German Jews. When postwar German professional life had to be rebuilt, one of the hardest tasks was to reconnect with the fundamental values of modern professional activity without the emigrated and murdered German Jews who had been so instrumental in sustaining those values.
