Using Second Language Learning To Improve Self-Esteem Among K-12 Homeless School Children Of Dallas, Texas, William Miller Walker
Using Second Language Learning To Improve Self-Esteem Among K-12 Homeless School Children Of Dallas, Texas, William Miller Walker
Collection of Engaged Learning
This dissertation will explain the process and steps taken to prove the statement that using second language learning can improve self-esteem among K-12 homeless school children of Dallas, Texas. I began by researching the hardships that homeless students experience and then used that information to formulate a program in which I would teach basic French language and culture to a group of K-12 homeless students. Through the use of a valid and reliable self-esteem measurement survey, I was able to track changes in participant’s self-esteem to validate my hypothesis.
Glorious Revolution As Financial Revolution, John David Angle
Glorious Revolution As Financial Revolution, John David Angle
History Faculty Publications
Conventionally appreciated as simply a religious and political event, this paper presents a re-appraisal of the Glorious Revolution based on the economic and commercial motivations. Scholarship has long accepted the narrative that the revolution was prompted by religious concerns, however this fails to fully examine the economic conditions of the time and the interests of the so-called "Immortal Seven." The paper then examines the financial reforms wrought by William III, including the establishment of the Bank of England, creation of a national debt, and resolution of the Currency Crisis. Ultimately this paper places the Glorious Revolution into its proper economic …

“Business Spanish Certification Program And The Concept Of Test Validity”, Pamela Dupont Nickell

First, this report explains the project’s purpose and goals. Second, the report explores the important concept of “test validity” in creating and organizing the project’s study guide and exam. Finally, the author discusses various conclusions regarding the project’s outcomes. The project’s members include Pamela Nickell and Bryce …

Terracotta Figurines And Social Identities In Hellenistic Babylonia, Stephanie Langin-Hooper
Terracotta Figurines And Social Identities In Hellenistic Babylonia, Stephanie Langin-Hooper
Art History Research
Terracotta figurines are proposed as a particularly useful object corpus through which to access social identities in Hellenistic Babylonia. Cross-cultural interaction between Greeks and Babylonians has traditionally been the primary interest of scholars researching this society, and figurines were often recruited as evidence for the opposition of ethnic identities. In this work, a new approach to the figurines is proposed, which deemphasizes the categorical rigidity of typology and substitutes a flexible methodology of accessing multiple inter-object entanglements. A particular case study of “nude heroic” figurines (which are often considered evidence for display of cultural difference) is explored in detail, utilizing …

Zeugma As The Provenance Of 12 Mosaic Fragments At Bowling Green State University, Stephanie Langin-Hooper, S. Rebecca Martin, Mehmet Önal
Art History Research
Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in Ohio is the current owner of 12 sections of floor mosaic dating to the 2nd-3rd c. A.D. Purchased by the university in 1965, these mosaic fragments were believed to be from the site of Antioch. In 2010-11, the mosaics were conserved and installed in BGSU’s Wolfe Center. In the following year the first-named author, organizing a symposium to celebrate the new display of the mosaics, invited R. Molholt to be the keynote speaker. During the course of preparing their respective papers for the symposium, she and Molholt uncovered evidence that an Antioch provenance for …
