Advanced data collection and analysis has allowed police departments across the country to incorporate computer generated crime predictions into both short and long-term policing strategy. Predictive policing offers novel legal, ethical and logistical challenges to our criminal justice system. These technologies have the ability to erode our constitutional rights to privacy and equality, but they also have enormous capacity to make law enforcement more efficient and effective. This thesis explores extant Supreme Court jurisprudence to better understand how these technologies will affect our civil liberties, specifically with respect to the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments.
