The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of adaptive instruction on the developmental rhythm aptitude and rhythm achievement of preschool students with a hearing impairment. Specifically, this study is designed to determine a) if the addition of body percussion and percussive instruments to music instruction affects the developmental rhythm aptitudes of 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old children with a hearing impairment and b) if the addition of body percussion and percussive instruments affects the rhythm achievement scores of 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old children with a hearing impairment. Compares the teen films, Rebel without a Cause and River's Edge, using cultural studies to analyze what they reveal about the complexities of masculinity and sexuality. Contends that while the cultural ideologies of the 1950s and 1980s promote a tough-guy hyper-masculinity, these films offer multiple models of masculinity, various forms of homosocial bonds, and veiled messages about homosexuality.

Contextualizes Spanish surrealist filmmaker, Luis Bunuel's, 1933 surrealist documentary, Land without Bread, in its artistic, historical, and political foundations. Creates the first English language exploration of the term, "surrealist documentary," that is equally contextualized between the politics and methods of the surrealists and the beginnings of the ethnographic film tradition.
