A Conceptual Model Of Seventh-Day Adventist Organization For The Local Church, Trevor J. Delafield
A Conceptual Model Of Seventh-Day Adventist Organization For The Local Church, Trevor J. Delafield
Professional Dissertations DMin
Problem
In order for the Seventh-day Adventist church to accomplish fully its mission, the local church must be organized effectively to produce the results required by its mission. For this purpose, a conceptual model may be helpful. Until the present, no such model had been developed. The constant appearance of new techniques and processes in management call for development of instruments for evaluation by the church, and have at the same time raised the discipline to new heights of respectability. The question of the theology of the church is under study as never before. At least one Seventh-day Adventist theologian …

Factors Related To The Brain Drain From The Middle East Union Of The Afro-Mideast Division, Najeeb W. Nakhle
Professional Dissertations DMin
The migration of the trained national Seventh-day Adventist Church workers is one of the most critical problems facing present-day church administrators in the Middle East Union of the Afro-Mideast Division. Because of this migration a serious shortage of trained personnel exists at various levels of the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in this union. This shortage results from the brain drain which not only causes losses in educated, experienced, and gifted personnel who are difficult to replace, but is also responsible for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Middle East Union losing members.
The purpose of this study is …

A Study Of Evangelism Of West Indian Immigrants In Five Seventh-Day Adventist Churches In Toronto, Canada, Aaron R. Hitlall
Professional Dissertations DMin
Problem
It is estimated that of the almost 20,000 West Indian immigrants who settled in the province of Ontario, Canada, from 1966 to 1975, fifty percent now reside in the city of Toronto. An Evaluation Of Selected Seventh-Day Adventist Sermons In Mexico Against Certain Criteria For Biblical Preaching, Samuel Donald Schmidt
An Evaluation Of Selected Seventh-Day Adventist Sermons In Mexico Against Certain Criteria For Biblical Preaching, Samuel Donald Schmidt
Professional Dissertations DMin
Problem.
Some of the Seventh-day Adventist sermons preached in Mexico appear to offer limited biblical content. It has been observed that overtaxed ministers often present material that does not correspond to some of the members' expectations. Since the word of God is central in the praise and adoration of God and constitutes the message to be proclaimed, it is important for preachers to understand better ways to preach the Good News.
Method
The purpose of this project was to explore current Seventh- day Adventist preaching in Mexico with respect-to sermon content. The theology of God's proclamation places great responsibility upon …

Implications Of Selected Curricular Determinants For Seventh-Day Adventist Graduate Theological Education In The South American Division, Nancy J. Vyhmeister
Dissertations
Problem. The South American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is studying the possibility of offering graduate theological education in its own territory. According to curricular theory, decisions regarding curricula should be based on studies of the society in which the school functions, studies of the nature and status of the discipline, and studies of the needs and aspirations of the learners. Information regarding South American society and theological education in the territory of the South American Division existed in scattered sources and needed to be gathered and organized. Most of the information concerning the learner--the Seventh-day Adventist minister …

The Literary Structure Of The Genesis Creation Story, Jacques Doukhan
The Literary Structure Of The Genesis Creation Story, Jacques Doukhan
Dissertations
Exegetical research on Gen 1 has been characterized since the 18th century essentially by a diachronic concern. Thus the Documentary hypothesis and the so-called Tatbericht-Wortbericht theory have been the two main starting points of any relevant scholarly study of this text. Recently, under the influence of contemporary literary studies, attention has been drawn to the validity of the synchronic approach, and more and more scholars have thus become aware of the importance of the liteary structure of this text. The latter has been dissociated from the thematic distribution of motifs; this tension has been explained in terms of different sources, …

An Exploration Of The Needs Of, And Possibilities Of Ministry To, Geographically Isolated Seventh-Day Adventists, Thomas Hunter Ludowici
Professional Dissertations DMin
Problem
There are some Seventh-day Adventist Church members who, because of mileage distance or other geographic reason, are unable to attend a local church regularly, and whose membership is listed on the conference church roll. If the church is to minister to all its members, this segment cannot be ignored. The geographically isolated members have received very little pastoral nurture, and they have experienced only limited fellowship. As a result, generally they have maintained a weakened connection with the church at large. Because the seventh- day Sabbath is a central aspect of belief and worship practice, it is meaningful for …
