In light of Rogers' diffusion of innovations theory, Triandis' typology of individual cultures, as well as the Hierarchy-of-Effects Model, this study aims at directing attention to the cultural aspects behind the encumbrance of the diffusion process of online advertising in Egypt, through investigating the perceptions, attitude and behavior of Egyptian Internet users toward online advertising and the relationship of these aspects with the individual cultural orientations of those users.

The thesis examines two different reformist approaches to Islamic law in general and women's rights in particular. Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na'im and Khaled Abou El Fadl are chosen as the focus of this study because of their respective innovative approaches to a historically controversial issue. This work attempts to explore the normalized state of emergency in Egypt. For more than two decades, Egypt has existed under the control of emergency legislation designed to curb civil and political rights. This work examines the current state of emergency within the framework of socio-economic, philosophy, and Egyptian history in order to assess the rationale of its raison d'etre.

The work commences with a brief history of Egypt under the rule of the Mamluk dynasty prior to European incursion and the development of the nation-state. It then discusses the European occupation, the rise of the nation-state, and the current …

My research centers around the daily realities and lives of three women of one family in Ma'sarah, Cairo. The particularities of their life experiences speak to the experience of Egyptian women in general, while their own unique situation as Evangelical Christians in a majority Muslim country sets them apart from both their Muslim and Coptic neighbors, about whom much has been written. Various methods are used to illuminate their perception of life with a focus on gender identity. The written prose captures their personal narratives while the visual narrative, a documentary film, allows the women to speak for themselves. Together …

This thesis explores the existence of an identified author in relation to a text and how this identity and recognition thereof affects the way the work is perceived in the realm of literary criticism and by the law. The study covers how modern literary critics, such as Foucault and Barthes, viewed the author in relation to his work, and what role this bestowed on the reader/audience of the work.
