Emancipation, Elevation, And Education: Black Educational Institutions In New York City During The 1830s, Kristopher B. Burrell

This conference paper studied the significance of African Americans' efforts to organize around education in New York City during the 1830s. There was a proliferation of black-led educational institutions in the aftermath of slavery's end in the city. These institutions were part of a broader effort to prove that African Americans deserved full citizenship in the State and country during the 1830s. What was happening in New York City was not occurring in a vacuum and the paper briefly puts what was occurring in New York City within a regional context, as well.

Jackson came to the Bronx without any family relations in 1946 and finished High School. In sociolinguistics, code-switching (CS), refers to the alternative use by bilinguals of two or more languages in the san1e conversation. This exploratory study aims to investigate the CS phenomenon in Lebanon. It aims to find out the reasons/functions of CS, as well as to know the extent to which the code-switches observe or violate six universal syntactic constraints: the size of the constituent constraint, the conjunction constraint, the adjectival phrase constraint, the free morpheme constraint, the equivalence constraint, and the dual structure principle. The purpose of this paper is to examine the history of Theatre at the University of Texas - Pan American in the 20th Century, from its inception in the Fall of 1934 through the Summer of 2001. It is written as a series of oral interviews with two women whose tenure at The University of Texas - Pan American covers that period. Mrs. Ruth Owings Blalock founded Theatre at the then Edinburg Junior College in 1934. Dr. Marian F. Monta was hired as her replacement in 1971 and continues to serve as area head of Theatre.

Peter Dee - Strategic Design & Marketing Consultant, was responsible for the design and development of the brand identity for the Enterprise Ireland Student Creativity Day which was used on business cards, letterhead, appliction forms, information literature, large format posters, t-shirts and website. Competing in multi-disciplinary teams, students provided an innovative & creative solution to an exacting design brief. The design brief reflected the following themes: interface, learning, science, media, communications and fashion. The design jury included representatives of Irish business and IDI members.

Studying of the meanings of education, mission identities, and cultural change in Southern Rhodesia, Summers shows how mission-educated Africans negotiated new identities for themselves and their communities within the confines of segregation. From the beginning of the 20th century to the end of the Second World War, Africans in Southern Rhodesia experienced massive changes. Colonialism was systematized, segregation grew rigid and intensive, and economic changes affected every aspect of life from assembling bridewealth to entrepreneurial opportunities. Problem

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between perspectives of spiritual care held by students and faculty in Seventh-day Adventist baccalaureate nursing programs and their perception of the school climate and compare these between faculty and students, Seventh-day Adventists and non-Seventh-day Adventists, and males and females.

Methodology

The University Version of the Kettering School Climate scale and the Role of Spiritual Care in Nursing Subscale answered by 49 faculty and 159 students of nine Seventh-day Adventist baccalaureate nursing programs provided the data.
