Remembrance And Worship In Israel-A Study Of Gerhard Von Rad's Theology Of Worship In The Old Testament, Brian Whittle
Remembrance And Worship In Israel-A Study Of Gerhard Von Rad's Theology Of Worship In The Old Testament, Brian Whittle
Master of Sacred Theology Seminar Papers
In this study we will attempt to establish a basis upon which these issues can properly be answered. The primary focus will be upon worship in the Old Testament, though to limit any study of worship to the time and writings before God incarnated Himself would be to answer inadequately any applicable question regarding worship in the modem context. Therefore, this study will also look to see how the analysis of worship in the Old Testament context is manifested in the New Testament. When the proper correlation is made, then one is ready to address the questions and concerns regarding …
Luther And "Social Ethics", Terrance Adamson
Luther And "Social Ethics", Terrance Adamson
Master of Sacred Theology Seminar Papers
For Luther, it appears, that there is a distinction between an office of authority and the office holder. The office holder is the same as any other Christian with the same divine command to "love" in and through his call. Instruction and Christian admonition to the individual regarding faith and Christian duty does not, in itself, violate the distinction between Law and Gospel.

The Socratic Fallacy In The Early Dialogues, Priscilla Sakezles
The Socratic Fallacy In The Early Dialogues, Priscilla Sakezles
The Society for Ancient Greek Philosophy Newsletter
In ‘Plato’s Euthyphro: An Analysis and Commentary’ (33), Peter Geach attributes two assumptions to Socrates which he calls the ‘Socratic Fallacy’ since its locus classicus is the early Socratic dialogues:
(A) if you know you are correctly predicating a given term ‘T,’ you must ‘know what it is to be T’ in the sense of being able to give a general criterion for a thing’s being T;
(B) it is no use to try and arrive at the meaning of‘T’ by giving examples of things that are T.
Geach claims that (B) follows from (A) because assuming (A) is true, …

Bowls Everywhere But None To Match The Poulan Weed Eater Bowl, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
I entered a state of deep depression recently when I learned that the folks at Poulan are no longer sponsoring the Independence Bowl. The Poulan Weed Eater Bowl is no more. The irritating, loud and stupid relative of all the bowl games is gone. The Poulan Weed Eater Bowl has whacked its last weed.
John Rocker's Si Interview, Richard C. Crepeau
John Rocker's Si Interview, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
It wasn't all that long ago that John Rocker was complaining about being stereotyped by Met fans and New Yorkers. He said that New Yorkers seemed to think that everyone from Georgia had one tooth and married their cousin. The self-styled good old boy resented this sort of sweeping generalization about Georgians and Southerners.

George Grote On Plato And Athenian Democracy: A Study In Classical Reception, Kyriakos N. Demetriou
George Grote On Plato And Athenian Democracy: A Study In Classical Reception, Kyriakos N. Demetriou
Kyriakos N. Demetriou
George Grote (1794-1871) belonged to the leading Philosophic Radicals of early Victorian Britain. A student of James Mill and Jeremy Bentham, a self-educated classical scholar, and a committed utilitarian liberal, he succeeded in revolutionizing the field of Greek studies. The author draws on both unpublished works of Grote and also a wide range of published material, with emphasis on the History of Greece and Plato and the other Companions of Sokrates, to give us this study of the historian's thought and understanding of classical Greece. The book starts with an examination of Grote's early intellectual influences and then proceeds to …
Notre Dame On Probation: The Cost Of Selling Your Soul And The Ncaa As Judge, Richard C. Crepeau
Notre Dame On Probation: The Cost Of Selling Your Soul And The Ncaa As Judge, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
Can we say that the final blow to the concept of intercollegiate athletic integrity has now been delivered? With the announcement Friday that Notre Dame has been placed on two years probation and lost two football scholarships, seemingly the last bastion of intercollegiate athletics has been tarnished. A sense of shame walks the campus beneath the Golden Dome.

The Selected Language Styles Of African Americans In An Urban Environment, Danielle R. England
The Selected Language Styles Of African Americans In An Urban Environment, Danielle R. England
McCabe Thesis Collection
The overall scope of this research is to define and explain the different styles of African American English. What are they and how do they affect the American society? The means by which many African Americans communicate is different from what American deems as standard American English (SAE). To this date, the voice of Black America has been categorizes as Black Dialect, African American Vernacular English, and Black English. Only until recently has the Black voice been regarded as Ebonics. Where did these language styles originate and why do we continue to speak it? Of course, there is nothing wrong …
