The purpose of this investigation and research project has been to discover the answers to certain problems connected with the religious philosophy of the Latter-day Saint people of a given geographical area, through appropriate research methods and procedures. Administrative History Of The Nauvoo Legion In Utah, Ralph Hansen
Administrative History Of The Nauvoo Legion In Utah, Ralph Hansen
Theses and Dissertations
The Nauvoo Legion takes its name from the city in Illinois which was the center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the early 1840's, when the Mormon militia was organized. When the Mormons were driven to the Rocky Mountains they revived the militia, in 1849, under its original title.
The legislative organization of the Utah Nauvoo Legion was carried out through enactments of three lawmaking bodies, the High Council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Legislature of the State of Deseret, and the Legislature of the Territory of Utah.

The History Of The Drama In Corinne And Brigham City, Utah, 1855-1905, Rue Corbett Johnson
The History Of The Drama In Corinne And Brigham City, Utah, 1855-1905, Rue Corbett Johnson
Theses and Dissertations
It is hoped that through the inclusion of the history of the drama in Corinne, Utah, some interesting contrasts can be shown. Such contrasts are heightened when it Is realized that geographically the two towns are very close and that unlike Brigham City, and other Utah towns, Corinne was non-Mormon. During its zenith it undoubtedly reflected the typical frontier town characteristics more than did the Mormon town nearby. This fact provides opportunity for comparison of two societies as reflected in their dramatic activities. This comparison should assist in evaluating the history and contributions of Mormon dramatic activity by helping to …

The Contributions Of The Temporary Settlements Garden Grove, Mount Pisgah, And Kanesville, Iowa, To Mormon Emigration, 1846-1852, L. Robert Webb
Theses and Dissertations
For years the writer has been very interested in the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His work as a teacher, employed by the LDS department of education, has been with the youth of the church. His teaching experience has taken him through a chronological consideration or sequence of events of the church from its origin down to the present. However, the absence of historical data during the period of 1846-1852 grew into a problem in the writer's mind. After reading in the histories of the church a brief paragraph about Garden Grove and Mount Pisgah, …

A History Of Wasatch County, 1859-1899, Leslie Shupe Raty

This is an attempt to tell the story of the foundation and pioneer development of Wasatch County. The writer has tried to trace those factors in the pioneering venture which have made important contributions to present-day life in the county. This is also a story of the pioneers who settled here, a story of how they individually and collectively met the challenge of the frontier. But in addition to this, the effort has been made to picture one part of a phase in general Utah history, a phase which followed the original settlement, a phase in which an effort was …

Freighting Between The Missouri River And Utah - 1847-1869, George Lofstrom Strebel
Freighting Between The Missouri River And Utah - 1847-1869, George Lofstrom Strebel
Theses and Dissertations
The problem for this thesis was undertaken because of an intense interest which the writer has in general Western History and more particularly in the History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As the thousands of emigrants moved west to make their homes, they brought with them only enough supplies to support themselves for a relatively short time. When those supplies were gone they needed replacements in order not to bring hardships to the settlers. Where were these precious supplies to come from? Some few principally agricultural products could be produced, but by far the largest portion …
