Wilson(?) discussing his forwarding of recommendations in connection with a job search. Anxious to relocate, Wilson states that he would make a prospective employer “a good man” and that “Kentuck[y] [isn’t] any good now for a young man.” The letter is on letterhead of the Cave City, Kentucky agents of the American Electric Telephone Company of Chicago, Illinois. The reverse bears advertising copy and images of telephones and switchboard equipment.

Business and personal correspondence, as well as business records (chiefly invoices and statements from Louisville suppliers) for the Green family at Falls of Rough, Grayson County, Kentucky. Green operated a number of businesses, including saw mills, a grist mill, woolen mill, and a general store. He also operated a large farm raising tobacco and livestock, as well as a herd of Shetland ponies. Although his businesses are covered extensively in the correspondence and records, politics and local economic development is also discussed.

He reports on receipt of information that “opens up the prospect of my soon becoming a millionaire,” namely the conversion of his claim as mortgage creditor of an estate with valuable landholdings in Virginia and Kentucky into a purchaser’s interest. He then hopes to “sell an interest . . . so that we can live together.”

The letter discusses substituting parts to remedy errors in two orders, and the catalog pricing for an earlier delivery of parts. The company letterhead includes an image of its factory and the motto, “Buggies Bred in Old Kentucky.”

The collection includes an entire box of assessment related material related to Fort Knox Dependent Schools in the mid-1960s.
