With every element of Australian society co-opted for the war effort, it is no surprise that cinema was also used to enhance the government’s war aims. This study looks at the Australian film industry, specifically at its production of war dramas and documentaries, and its distributions and screening, exploring the interaction of official needs and pressures and the responses of the domestic film industry.

Study tours are popular educational experiences even in higher education. Study tours of biblical sites as a means of confirming faith and deepening knowledge have been common practice in Adventist circles for some time. But often the evidence for the value of these experiences is anecdotal. This study of a specific tour sought to validate the anecdotal evidence for the special learning value of the tour and, further, to identify the factors that best contributed to the students’ learning.

The debates about Marjorie Oludhe Macgoye’s identity either, exclusively identify her as Kenyan or British-born Kenyan without explicitly interrogating the process by which she became Kenyan. This research recognises that Macgoye is Kenyan through her marriage to a Luo. The Luo are a language group whose traditional land is on the shores of Lake Victoria. To the Luo, the word dala has varied meanings including, but not limited to: a homestead, the ancestral land, the clan, and the general direction of dala before the Luo is Kenyan.
