Music Creation: A Look Into The Process And Products Of Organizing And Performing A Concert Of Arrangements And Original Musical Works, Cameron Beers

Honors Projects

As a composer, arranger, audio engineer, and musician, I have created many works in my time at SPU. These works have been showcased and performed at a concert in SPU’s own Nickerson Studios, in a joint composition recital with Emily Abshere. The process of putting this concert together was long and complicated, and is detailed in this paper, along with my own artist statement and other details about the concert. Earth/Unearth [On The Nature Of G-D And Creation], Macs Herdrich

Honors Projects

Inspired by creative research, EARTH/UNEARTH explores the nature of the divine and the act of creation. This triptych of poetry features poems such as “EXPERIENCE OF A TREE (AND SKY)”, “RITUAL/SENSUAL”, and “THE THING THAT DOESN’T COME FROM THINKING” as meditations on the following questions: Is there a hierarchy that exists from G-d to dirt? How does inspiration flow through the hands to creation? And in the strain of creation, how do we care for our bodies? Each section concludes with an opportunity for visual meditation and reflection.

Artificial Intelligence And Theological Personhood, Michael D. Langford Jun 2022

Artificial Intelligence And Theological Personhood, Michael D. Langford

SPU Works

To address these inquiries, we will look at three biblical texts that bear on issues of theological anthropology, hopefully garnering some theological resources to consider the anthropological status of AI. Specifically, we will look at three “creation” texts that necessarily deal with the nature of human personhood within the divine economy of salvation history. The first is Genesis 1 and 2, which …
