Who are the Lithuanians in Perth, Western Australia?

A group of Displaced People that arrived in Australia in the period immediately following the end of World War II. Between 1948 and 1953 some 580 Lithuanians established themselves in WA. They brought with them their culture, traditions, values and beliefs and their language, the oldest Indo-European language still spoken in Europe. Despite Initial difficulties encountered in terms of work, accommodation and cultural differences the Lithuanians settled down in the new homeland and were able to rebuild their lives far from the horrors of World War II.
