The bulk of these abstracts were created between 1960 and 1980, though the property histories within the abstracts date back to 1858 in some cases.

Mary Carrick talks about her young years going to District 3 country schoolhouse just three miles outside of Chadron, Nebraska. The school was one room and had one teacher that changed almost every year. Mary was the only one in her grade until more joined her in the upper grades. Everyone at the school got along, and built a great community that never got into too much trouble. Mary spends her time in her interview discussing her fond and positive memories of school functions and festivals and wishes for them to be preserved. The Octofoil
The Octofoil is the offical publication of the Ninth Infantry Division Association, Inc., an organization formed by the officers and men of the 9th Infantry Division in order to perpetuate the memory of fallen comrades, preserve the esprit de corps of the Division, promote peace and serve as an information bureau about the 9th Infantry Division. The Association is made up of 9th Infantry veterans from WWII and Vietnam, spouses, widows and lineal descendants.

On September 22, 1949, Shirley Cupp, Irma Beisel, Frances Stuckey and Mr. Hilary Bufton Jr. met in a coffee shop in downtown Kansas City to incorporate the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). Jean Fulkerson helped start The Kentucky Colonels Chapter on 3 June 1964 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Twenty-six women met at Western Hills Restaurant and elected Linda Sidebottom as the first president. Besides providing professional development opportunities for local businesswomen, the Chapter gave scholarships to women furthering their education, and held social and recognition events throughout the year.
