This project was a process drama piece that arose out of a study of physical theatre with particular reference to Jacques Lecoq. Through in class exercises on ensemble building, physical theatre and mask work an original one act play was devised that challenged the notions and conventions of theatre. This project includes planning and post production analysis of Universal American School's performance of "Play."

The concept of chance utilized by John Cage is a frightening, exciting, and liberating process for any artist. It was so effective that other musical artists such as Morton Feldman, Earle Brown and Christian Wolff used it. The purpose of this study was to implement Character Memory Exploration (a specific pathway towards character justification) within a BFA Acting II course. Primarily using given circumstances and magic if, Character Memory Exploration creates a rich and developed character history through a combination of visualization exercises, improvisation, and writing. The following summary will show individualized exercises and how to implement them, as well as their original purpose, placements, and pairings.
