The Return Of The Curse Of The Mummy’S Revenge, December 11, 1987 – February 6, 1988, Theatre Sheridan
Theatre Sheridan Productions
A musical by Pembroke, Ontario’s, James Saar, that includes sarcophagi, mummies, creepy special effects and a strange love story set in ancient Egypt. The play starts with an introduction to the ancient tragic love story of Ankara and Kharum, who have been sealed in a tomb together 4,002 years ago. The show is a spoof on the adventure films of the 1980’s. There are the 3 stereotypical male roles; rugged American guide, German archeologist, and British secret agent. This bungling trio of unlikely heroes is joined by the American’s ditzy girlfriend and the German’s reserved daughter. Together they move through …

The Duke of Athens, Theseus, is marrying the queen of the Amazons. A four day extravaganza is planned out and Athenians gather to celebrate the occasion. Two sets of star-crossed lovers must work through the repercussions of defying family expectations.
Into this mix are a band of fairies including the fairy king, Oberon, and Titania, the queen who are feuding over an Indian prince. A love potion is introduced through the fairies’ meddling and the Athenian lovers are given the potion with disastrous results.

Robin Hood, Otterbein University Theatre And Dance Department
1987-1988 Season
Robin Hood is a legendary heroic outlaw originally depicted in English folklore and subsequently featured in literature and film. According to legend, he was a highly skilled archer and swordsman. In some versions of the legend he is depicted as being of noble birth, and having fought in the Crusades before returning to England to find his lands have been taken by the Sheriff. In other versions this is not the case and he is instead born into the yeoman class. Traditionally depicted dressed in Lincoln green, he is said to have robbed from the rich and …

The two lead characters, Eileen and Ruth set out from Ohio to New York, with the intention of being famous. Ruth is a writer sent on a wild goosechase to interview Portuguese sailors. They know no English except for the singing of La Congo. Christopher Street, a place of self-destruction, is where sisters Ruth and Eileen meet all sorts of unusual characters. Lippincott, a soda parlour dandy, and Chick Clark, a sleezy journalist, are two of Eileen’s suitor’s.
Based on the book by Joseph Fields and James Chodorov.
Director: Rod Maxwell
Choreographer: Len Gibson

Shakespeare In The Weimar Republic, William Grange
Shakespeare In The Weimar Republic, William Grange
Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film: Faculty Publications and Creative Activity
The Weimar Republic occupies a period in German history that has long fascinated students of theatre and drama. It was a period of profound change in German social, political, and cultural experience, and rarely has the confluence of those experiences figured so influentially upon the performance of William Shakespeare's plays. In decades previous to Weimar, German Shakespeare productions manifested the awed reverence in which the playwright was held, since most German actors, directors, and designers regarded Shakespeare in the same light as they did Goethe and Schiller. In 1864, for example, Germany celebrated the three-hundredth anniversary of the playwright's birth …
