Un Viaje Gráfico De Crítica Política: Análisis Geográfico-Temático De Los Diseños De Eneko De Las Heras Sobre Los Periódicos Interviú Y 20 Minutos, Giovanni Pietro Vitali

Esta contribución pretende ser una tentativa de análisis crítico y geográfico del trabajo del caricaturista venezolano Eneko de Las Heras Leizaola. En este artículo proponemos un análisis espacial y cronológico de sus dibujos de humor gráfico y de denuncia social publicados en los periódicos Interviú y 20 Minutos entre los años de 2007 a 2018. El sustento de dicho análisis reside en el empleo de herramientas digitales. Demostraremos cómo Eneko representa, incluso si hay algunas críticas sociales en respuesta a fenómenos económicos, políticos y bélicos, nuevas formas de contar cuestiones sociales como el sexismo o la ecología.

Published in 1930, Vicki Baum’s play Pariser Platz 13: Eine Komödie aus dem Schönheitssalon engaged the readership with an unorthodox and thoroughly modern heroine: the successful owner of international beauty salons Helen Bross. Helen personified the wishes and dreams of Baum’s readers: Helen’s autonomy, both personal and financial, allowed her to be an active consumer of modernity and its pleasures: travel, interaction with celebrities, and luxurious lodging.

Advancing education in marginalized communities has been more difficult compared to more privileged communities due to the lack of infrastructure, which in part results in an absence of educational materials. The BlueBox Project was created to minimize this divide by bringing a wealth of information to these communities. Using a small digital computer, faculty, staff, and students across many disciplines built the BlueBox, a stand-alone digital library which hosts an array of books, articles, educational games, and videos to inspire learning in a variety of subjects including science, technology, math, music, and literature. The AUSJAL/AJCU Virtual Exchange Program maximizes the strengths of the Jesuit educational mission and its network to establish sustainable partnerships across borders, language and cultural divides. Initiated in 2006 as a grass roots project between two language instructors, the collaboration has grown to involve 22 universities, 29,561 students and 200 instructors in an innovative, high impact practice that leverages technologies to foster global engagement through virtual interaction. This study documents the perspectives of U.S. and Latin American students participating in virtual exchange experiences at five Jesuit universities. La Literatura Latinoamericana Frente Al Nuevo Milenio: Idas Y Vueltas Entre Lo Local Y Lo Global, Félix Terrones

Abordamos la literatura latinoamericana contemporánea en el ámbito global. En este sentido, nos detenemos en tres aspectos representativos. Primero, la emergencia de grupos como McOndo (Chile) y Crack (México), los cuales plantean una concepción y una práctica diferentes de la novela. Luego, la consagración internacional de la literatura de Roberto Bolaño, un autor que, hasta cierto punto, puede ser leído como heredero de cierta tradición novelesca latinoamericana. Finalmente, abordaremos la circulación internacional de la literatura latinoamericana en los últimos años, la cual no ha dejado de interrogar el caracter tanto nacional como latinoamericano.

Food has a dual physical and sociocultural relationship to human life. This duality positions images of food as uniquely powerful when subverted in literary or aesthetic representations for the purpose of evoking what Joyce Carol Oates (1998) calls “aesthetic fear.” Drawing on symbolism primarily from Classical mythology, Western European fairy tales, American horror movies, and resistance poetry from the Spanish Civil War, this paper explores four symbolic subversions of the food chain (when hunters are hunted; bloodthirsty plants; cannibalism; and hunger). Contemporary cultural media illustrates the vampire as an important symbolic figure in the Brazilian imaginary. For example, in twentieth and twenty-first century Brazilian fiction, television, and political discourse, vampires have risen from their supposedly European origins as expressions of urban decay, comic excess, and government corruption in Brazil. Beyond these representations, I focus on three contemporary novels in which the vampire also plays a starring role. En este ensayo se explica cómo Miquel de Palol, con la publicación del Jardí dels set crepuscles (1989), culmina la evolución de la novelística popular catalana de la década de los setenta y ochenta. La novela a partir de elementos narratológicos y simbólicos queda intelectualizada al situar el escenario en un ambiente de ficción especulativa pos apocalíptico. Finalmente, se ofrece una interpretación novedosa bajo la figura de un narrador “loco” que justifica ese carácter intelectualizante del Jardí.

After enduring a decade of economic, climatic, and political problems, between 1999 and 2006, more than 900,000 Ecuadorians left their country (INEC 2007). This process marked the beginning of a major migratory movement which has caused Spain to become a premier destination. The response to such migration has been disparate, yet both Ecuadorian and Spanish artists (as well as the Spanish press) have shown the different perspectives related to a discriminatory ideology.
