Marie Eugenie delle Grazies Drama Der Schatten wurde am 28. September 1901 im Wiener Hofburgtheater, einer der bedeutendsten Bühnen Europas, uraufgeführt, jedoch nach nur vier Vorstellungen abgesetzt. Das mit dem Bauernfeld-Preis ausgezeichnete Stück bildet den Zenit von delle Grazies literarischem Schaffen und beinhaltet Diskurse von hohem damaligem Stellenwert, die uns einen tieferen Einblick, vom Standpunkt der modernen Frau, ins Fin-de-Siècle Wien geben können. Das Drama und seine Dichterin wurden im Wien der Jahrhundertwende sowohl gefeiert als auch gerügt. В статье рассматривается вопрос о поэтической законности в творчестве М.И. Цветаевой. Черубина де Габриак (псевдоним Е.И. Дмитриевой) служит примером женщины, наказанной (разоблачением и фигуративной казнью) за литературное самозванчество, но Цветаева ее потаенно связывает с самым выдающимся русским поэтом А.С. Пушкиным. Игра политических последствий цветаевского отношения к этим поэтам и ее собственной любви к самозванчеству многое объясняет в поэтике и в художественном отношении к гендеру у Цветаевой.

Most discussions of sexuality in the work of Dostoevsky have been framed in Freudian terms. But Dostoevsky himself wrote about sexuality from a decidedly pre-Freudian perspective. By looking at the views of human sexual development that were available in Dostoevsky's time and that he, an avid reader and observer of his own social context, absorbed and reacted to, Susanne Fusso gives us a new way of understanding a critical element in the writing of one of Russia's literary masters. The love affair between the aristocratic socialist feminist Aleksandra Mikhailovna Kollontai (1872-1952) and metalworker Bolshevik Aleksandr Gavrilovich Shliapnikov (1885-1937) intrigued both their contemporaries and historians of the Russian Revolution. Both were prominent leaders of the Workers' Opposition, yet Kollontai survived Stalin's purges while Shliapnikov perished. Their relationship, which began in 1911, encompassed romantic partnership, political collaboration and friendship. Shliapnikov and Kollontai ceased being lovers in 1916, but remained political allies and friends for much longer. Their relationship offers interesting material for considering the interplay between politics, identity, and emotions in history. Although it is difficult to see the crumbling, gray facades of the former Eastern Bloc as great testaments to the potentials of modern architecture, these buildings did reflect a dedication to technological innovation, social equality, and formal clarity unrivaled in the twentieth century. Built in an era that the West has commonly portrayed as one of rupture, isolation, and deprivation, socialist architecture in Eastern Europe was in fact connected to contemporary experiments in the West and to the specific legacies of the region's interwar years. The 2009 national convention of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies featured a panel on Forgotten Serbian Thinkers. Scholars who are working in the United States and abroad presented their research on the contributions of individuals representing various disciplines. The articles in this special issue of the Serbian Studies expand on these topics and bring forward contributions about forgotten Serbian intellectuals who have marked their respective professions in architecture, astronomy, literature, and philosophy, but who have been “forgotten” either in Serbia or outside Serbia. It was the Russian linguist, Grigorii Vinokur, who first introduced the term “kul’tura iazyka” or “language culture” to Russian in his writings on the changes taking place in the Russian language in the aftermath of the Bolshevik Revolution (Kul’tura iazyka [Moscow 1929]). Loosely defined as language production at all ranges of the discursive spectrum, the term provided Vinokur with a useful heuristic for writing about language in flux in a manner that took into account not just the high-end linguistic production of belles-lettres, but also the everyday language use (and abuse) of more mundane, but equally influential sources – including …

Post-perestroika Russian society exhibits a pronounced concern with the language question. Linguistic issues are discussed at all levels of society, and a great many people engage in these debates: politicians, philologists, teachers, journalists, writers, students, bloggers, and others. Newspapers and journals feature columns or article series devoted to language; conferences discuss “the state of the Russian language”; the state sponsors a large number of radio and television programmes on language and language culture; various centres and institutions offer programmes promoting linguistic cultivation; there are information services on linguistic questions on the Internet; many blogs deal with the language question.

The Poetics Of Paraphrase: The Positivist Postmodernism In Mikhail Gasparov’S “Experimental Translations”, Heinrich Kirschbaum

Two years before his death, Mikhail Gasparov (1935-2005) published his “Ėksperimental’nye perevody” (2003, “Experimental Translations,” or ETs), an anthology of translated works by authors from different time periods and literary traditions. The ETs are experimental in many ways: in some of his condensed translations, Gasparov shortens the originals drastically, in some cases by 80 percent. However, the ETs are not only experimental due to Gasparov’s new “technique of translation,” but also thanks to the choice of the originals to be translated. In addition to Hölderlin and Kavafis, Gasparov translates Pushkin and Lermontov from Russian to Russian, shortening and paraphrasing them …

The post-Soviet period presents an illuminating picture of competition taking place between different public discourses for meaning construction and articulation. It has been observed that after an initial period when the public narrative of the nation experienced fragmentation, and, using Pierre Bourdieu’s term, went through a period of heterodoxy during the last decade―roughly corresponding with the presidency of Vladimir Putin―it has displayed the growing characteristics of orthodoxy, with its centrally produced “common sense” meanings and assumptions.

Лексика отражает не только состояние общества, но и состояние сознания и мышления человека. Появление новых слов является одним из важных процессов в развитии лексики. Причём проблемой новых слов интересуются не только лингвисты, но и носители языка, поскольку изменения в области лексики взаимосвязаны с изменением общественно- политической и экономической жизни. То есть неологизм – это функциональное новообразование, которое служит определенной цели, отвечая запросам новых жизненных явлений и требований в обществе. Поэтому и говорят, что неологизмы – это результат лингвистических процессов, отражающих экстралингвистические явления.

«Что специфически нового внес Интернет в литературу?» – спрашивает поэт Александр Левин (б.д.) в рамках дискуссий, посвященных существованию некоей предполагаемой «сетературы». И сам сразу же дает отрицательный ответ, исключая возможность такого влияния и тем более специфически сетевой эстетики: «Способ написания остался прежним: ручкой скрип-скрип, клавиатуркой тюк-тюк, головёнкой дум- дум» (там же). При этом весьма симптоматично, что процесс написания, который по мнению автора не влияет на литературное творчество, им самым описывается как раз посредством ономатопоэтических характеристик, непосредственно вызывающих ощущение материальности письма (скрип ручки на бумаге, стук пальцев на клавиатуре).

Церковная лексика в современном русском языке Из всех языковых уровней (фонологический, морфологический, грамматический, синтаксический) именно лексика является наиболее чувствительной к изменениям в политике, экономике и культуре. В годы советской власти использование некоторых лексических элементов русского языка было искусственно приостановлено, часто по сугубо идеологическим причинам. Это особенно затронуло религиозную лексику, сфера употребления которой в русском языке очень существенно сузилась в XX веке. В постсоветский период лексическая система претерпевает очевидную нестабильность, что проявляется в неустойчивости границ между ядром лексической системы и ее периферией. Наблюдается интересная тенденция, связанная с возвращением некоторых историзмов, архаизмов, и в целом устаревших слов обратно в общее словоупотребление. В …

As the reality of a shattered Soviet empire began to enter the collective Russian consciousness in the early 1990s, the effects of a multiplicity of previously forbidden global influences began to emerge in virtually every arena of the new post-Soviet society, including within the Russian language itself. From mass media to commerce to politics, the language began to show the effects of the assimilation of previously unfamiliar lexicon and situational usage, as well as of the introduction of non-Russian neologisms in substantial numbers.
