This study was undertaken so that the writer would achieve a greater understanding of the development of the mission of the church as portrayed by Luke in the Acts of the Apostles. Casual reading of Acts reveals many councils, disputes, and discussions. One could get the impression that the early apostles were a diverse lot, and that the church only developed as it did because the strongest wills won the battles. The purpose of this study was to determine the kind and degree of differences that existed in the socioeconomic status and access to financial resources of elderly members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and to determine if differences existed between Church Service and private pay elderly hospital patients in economic status, type of housing, housing costs, marital status, sex, number and degree of access to children, savings and other assets.

Certain elderly members of the LDS Church were found to be significantly deficient economically because of inadequate income, low lifetime earnings and high medical expenses. Findings …

The task of this project was to prepare a report on the present condition of the Euro-American Seventh-day Adventist church focusing on six such congregations in the Greater New York Conference. By studying their historical, cultural, and environmental background, the writer sought to determine whether the existence of such congregations, as separate units within the Seventh-day Adventist organization, was justified.
