The sole purpose of this thesis is to trace the origin of the Kingdom of God from the beginning of time, creation, to the time of Christ. The development of the Kingdom of God will be traced through four specific areas: the Patriarchal, the Mosaic, the Royal, and the Prophetic. Within each of these areas it should be kept in mind that God is using people to spread His Kingdom. The fourth chapter will give a brief summary of the Jewish concept concerning the Kingdom. It is the purpose of this paper to uncover the importance and the influence of this exile upon the religion of the Jews, more especially, to understand the changes which the Babylonian Captivity brought upon the religion of the Jews. For it was during the exile in Babylonia that the Jews changed as a people, as a nation, and, what is most important of all, as a religious society. These changes and developments, which occurred during the exile, have remained until the present day and are of the utmost importance in our understanding of the Jewish people.
