Sikh Leadership: Establised Ideals And Diasporic Reality, Harinder Singh, Simran Singh Feb 2016

Sikh Leadership: Establised Ideals And Diasporic Reality, Harinder Singh, Simran Singh

Simran Jeet Singh

As established in the Sikh scriptural canon, ideal leaders internalize qualities of self-sovereignty, intentional servitude, integrative creativity, authentic compassion, and perhaps most significant of all, Divine inspiration. Models of communal decision-making can also be derived from the lives of the Gurū-Prophets (1469–1708 C.E.) and the institutions they established. Though the faith recognizes no clergy class, graduates of historical seminaries often emerge as significant leaders for the Sikh nation. The community outside of the homeland, however, has experienced a lesser effort in the cultivation of leadership. With a primary focus on education, religious centers, youth camps, and retreats have played a …

Intellectual Capital In Churches: Matching Solution Complexity With Problem Complexity, Darin Freeburg Dec 2015

Intellectual Capital In Churches: Matching Solution Complexity With Problem Complexity, Darin Freeburg

Darin Freeburg

The problems organizations face have varying degrees of
complexity. What is not often understood, however, is that
the knowledge needed to solve these problems also varies
in complexity, and should match the complexity of the
problem itself. The current study provides grounded theory
for how leaders in churches should approach problems
relating to Intellectual Capital (IC) assets. These intangible
assets are crucial to the ability of churches to create value
that enriches the lives of individuals in their communities.
In two, 90-minute focus groups, the leadership team of a
United Methodist Church in South Carolina, USA was
asked about their …

Arif Rohman

Interview With Richard Blackaby: Reflections On Spiritual Leadership, Leadership, Stan Patterson

Stanley E. Patterson

Dr. Richard Blackaby is the president of Blackaby Ministries International and has written or co-authored with his father 23 books, including Spiritual Leadership: Moving People on to God’s Agenda and Experiencing God. He and his wife, Lisa, make their home in Greenville, South Carolina. There has been so much—some would say too much—written on the subject of leadership during the last decade. Much of this work has influenced leadership behaviors and practices in the context of Christian organizations, but relatively little has emerged from the Christian context that has had the lasting impact of the book Spiritual Leadership: Moving People …

Gregory A. Smith

Paul’s relationship with the church at Corinth provides a detailed leadership case study. What Did Paul Really Mean? A Study Of Paul’S View Of Women In The Church, Steve Curtis Jan 2010

What Did Paul Really Mean? A Study Of Paul’S View Of Women In The Church, Steve Curtis

Steve Curtis

The issue of the role of women in church leadership has become increasingly divisive in modern evangelicalism and has seen strident propagation of polar opposite positions. While many arguments for or against women leadership in the church begin with Old Testament narratives or with the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ interaction with women, all such arguments must, eventually, interact with the writings of the apostle Paul in this regard. Some, of course, dismiss the authenticity (and, therefore, the authority) of much of the Pauline corpus; however, this paper assumes an audience with an orthodox doctrine of the authority of the entire …

Learning, Changing, And Doing: A Model For Transformational Leadership Development In Religious And Non-Profit Organizations, Skip Bell
