She writes of her enjoyment of missionary work and describes activities at the Triennial Conference for Baptist Young People in progress in Shanghai. She also notes with regret the recent closing of the Burma Road, used to supply China in its conflict with Japan. Features illustrated stationery and envelope, and includes a souvenir bookmark from the Young People’s Conference.

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Collection 646. Material, chiefly correspondence, of Bowling Green, Kentucky pastor Richard W. Bridges, who served as Board of Directors’ Chairman for the Western Recorder, the statewide newspaper of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. During Bridges’ Chairmanship, the editor, Jack Sanford, died. Bridges and the Board’s executive committee assumed the paper’s management and editorial responsibilities. This collection provides insights into the conservative takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention in the 1980s.

One of them dismisses a claim that the “blue eagle” symbol of the National Recovery Administration is a sign of the Antichrist. Also includes childhood letters from the Johnsons’ daughter and a photograph of Speed and Pernie Johnson.
