This news release, dated December 20, 2016, from the United States (US) Department of the Interior and the US Assistant Secretary of the Army announces the return of 24,959 acres of land on the Fort Berthold Reservation to the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation. The returned land was part of the 153,000 acres of land taken by the United States Government for construction of the Garrison Dam. The authority of this transfer is granted by the Fort Berthold Mineral Restoration Act of 1984 (Public Law 98-602). This press release provides some background on the Garrison Dam Project …

Samaa Abdurraqib is a Black, queer, Muslim woman living in Portland, Maine. Abdurraqib was raised in Columbus, Ohio. She attend the University of Ohio, and later the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received a PhD in English Literature. After graduating she worked as a visiting professor at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Next she went on to work the American Civil Liberties Union in Maine as a reproductive rights organizer. She now works for the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence. Her advocacy and organizing work has included places such as Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine, …

Question: How does Rap music affect the perception of African American culture from other races pertaining to negative lyrics and images that rappers and their music sometimes portray, and the increased availability of images on social media? Fieldwork: The Billboard charts and lyrics of the most popular songs were studied to draw conclusions and recommendations. Research findings illustrated that every song studied and used for purposes of such discourse included references to oversexualization of women, promoted drug use (selling and abusing), prophesizing the need for money and material possessions, and other profanities. • Became federal law on November 16, 1990 to correct gross inequalities between the protection of Native and non-Native cultural objects.
• Requires collecting institutions to: create an inventory of any Native American human skeletal remains, funerary objects, sacred objects, and items of cultural patrimony in their possession.
• Native American or Hawaiian groups can request repatriation if: they can show that they have true ownership of the cultural object or are a lineal descendant of the human remains in question.

Women of Color in Speculative Fiction: An Annotated Bibliography is tertiary electronic resource which focuses upon authors who are women of color (i.e., non-Caucasian) and who write speculative fiction for adult and young adult audiences. Examples of these authors include Octavia Butler, N. K. Jemisin, Daina Chaviano, Jewelle Gomez, and Malinda Lo. For some background, “speculative fiction” is an umbrella term for science fiction, fantasy, and some horror, all of which have literary and popular merit (Urbanski 2007). During the war, mortars and missiles hit the city, and Aisha's brother lost three children. Aisha's uncle in Jordan helped to smuggle their family into Turkey after they decided to escape.
