Papers related to the C.H. Freeman estate. Zubah and C.H. Freeman had many investments such as the Yawkey and Freeman Coal Company and the Freeman Estates. This collection contains contract agreements for property purchases of the Estates, a contour map of what seems to be the Freeman’s country residence, and correspondences between Zubah and realtors. This collection also houses some of Zubah’s family documents including old letters, registers of visitors from Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, and Paul and Ricky Ray’s basketball documents.

This collection consists of photographs of Himlerville, the Himler Coal Company town, as well as scanned copies of photographs of 1937 and 1943 flood damage, and a survey book by George H. Gunnoe Jr. containing detailed surveys of Marshall College buildings by engineering students in 1937.

This collection consists of 57 reels of 16 mm film primarily of family activities and travels abroad dating from 1932 until 1952. Special films of note include footage of coal mines and footage of the 1937 flood in Huntington, West Virginia. Also included are an Eiki film projector, VHS and DVD copies of selected film, and oversize family and business related photographs.

This collection consists of 105 oral histories conducted at the behest of the Matewan Development Center, Inc.. Oral histories are on cassette tapes and include transcripts of the oral histories and floppy disks with some of the transcripts saved on them. The oral histories focus on Matewan history, especially labor issues and conflicts surrounding the Matewan Massacre as well as customs and life in Matewan.

Includes depositions of children who survived the Buffalo Creek flood of 1972 as well as grade reports of selected children and depositions of scholars Robert J. Lifton and Kai Erikson concerning survivor guilt.
