Helping Contemporary People Use Historic Liturgy, Richard Wolfram
Helping Contemporary People Use Historic Liturgy, Richard Wolfram

It shows how historic liturgy is contemporary by nature, and can be used in a modern and relevant way. Educational tools were developed for use in both the worship and classroom settings. Survey results provide information toward tool development and effectiveness. The result of the project and its implementation in a parish setting waste elimination of the request for a "contemporary" worship from those exposed to the project tools.

La Parroquia Urbana, Benjamín Bravo
Journal of Hispanic / Latino Theology
This article examines the impact of increasing, mass urbanization in the Americas on the structures, functions and modalities of parish communities as a focal point of local churches. Assessing such factors as population, public services, industrialization, cultural diversity, tolerance, territorial and social mobility and participation in democratic processes, the essay turns to consider the urban parish itself as the Church's response to the realities of …
Hispanic Theologians As Actors, Poets And Prophets Of Their Communities, Sixto J. García
Hispanic Theologians As Actors, Poets And Prophets Of Their Communities, Sixto J. García
Journal of Hispanic / Latino Theology
The author proposes that while the Hispanic theologian must be an intimate participant and protagonist in his or her community, s/he is also called to maintain keep a necessary critical distance in relation to their living, active participation. Ultimately, theologians must ply their craft from within the lived religiosity of their communities. This means being a sensitive interpreter of the metaphors and symbols that communicate the community’s experience of the sacred. This role of poet-participant finds its best expression in the prophetic mission and identity of the theologian, who looks at his /her vulnerable, powerless, violence-stricken community through the surplus-giving …
