C. S. Lewis And The Care Of Souls, Lyle W. Dorsett
C. S. Lewis And The Care Of Souls, Lyle W. Dorsett
Sehnsucht: The C. S. Lewis Journal
Lewis acknowledged he lacked professional credentials to write popular theology. But he also argued that until the theologians and clergy wrote books laymen could understand on such topics as spiritual warfare and the problems of evil and pain, he must stand in the gap. It is the thesis of this essay that, in the final analysis, Lewis’ legacy as a physician of the soul will rival his importance as an apologist and author of the Narnian Chronicles.

Reform Of Orthodoxy: Current Challenges And Tasks, Hennadii Khrystokin, Vasyl Lozovytskyi
Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe
The article analyzes the current state of Orthodoxy, and highlights the problem of its reform, which consists of the need for renewal and modernization. The article establishes that the reasons for the need to reform in Orthodoxy are the crisis of the unity of the Ecumenical Church, the crisis of the management structures of local churches, the crisis in local church communities, and the significant dependence of Orthodoxy on national traditions. The article notes that the main aspects of church reform are the renewal of tradition, the need for a new reading of the canons, rethinking the negative historical experience …

Inspiring Readings Of The Inspired Text-- Taking The Bible Personally, After The Manner Of Friends, Paul Anderson
Inspiring Readings Of The Inspired Text-- Taking The Bible Personally, After The Manner Of Friends, Paul Anderson
Quaker Religious Thought
In the experience and conviction of Friends, the sway and power of Scripture lies not in an appeal to top-down authority, but in its transformative character, attested by its inspiring thrust. This view is also biblical, as the Apostle Paul exhorts Timothy to resist false teachers by clinging to what he has been taught since childhood. Indeed, the sacred writings are able to instruct one unto “salvation through faith in Jesus Christ” because of their God-breathed origin and character (2 Timothy 3:15-17). Early Friends also asserted the biblically-correct claim that the Word of God is centrally Jesus Christ, the Word …

The Christian Librarian
As the development of digital libraries increases, the growth has been accompanied by a refinement of evaluation criteria and methods. Evaluators are increasingly aware that the context of digital library usage (the social, cultural, academic, and institutional environments of the users) is an essential consideration of effective assessment. This article evaluates the Perseus Digital Library through the needs and objectives of a specific learning community – those engaged in theological research. After a review of relevant literature, a rationale is given for ranking ten key facets of digital library evaluation by order of importance. These criteria are then applied to …
