From a brief history of poetry, to words of scattered yet sympathetic thoughts my obsession with poetry will be unleashed. My thoughts and different approaches with this project will take on a few different short intoxicating narratives and excursions. Different sections of my project are simple yet complex indirect reflections of verbal asymmetrical shapes, and visual connections. Satori Literary Magazine
The Satori is a student literary publication that expresses the artistic spirit of the students of Winona State University. Student poetry, prose, and graphic art are published in the Satori every spring since 1970.
The Satori 2018 editors are Sajda Omar (Editor-in-Chief), Kylie Hoff, Keyanna Hultman, Audrey Sitte, Elyse Hoffmann. Art Director and Designer by Elyse Hoffmann. The 2018 Faculty advisor is Dr. Elizabeth Oness, Professor of English.

The Tygr presentation will focus on the collaboration between the art and English departments throughout the magazine's existence. We will present the history of the Tygr, with examples of past magazines, and talk about their format, their composition, and their shortcomings. We will examine how the Tygr has changed and grown into this new digital age and what goals we have for the future of the Tygr. We will also discuss how the Tygr is made now, closely examining the way these two departments work together to produce a product. Further time in the presentation will be dedicated to the …

Poetry is often perceived as an unfamiliar form of expression. With misconceptions of poetry being as something driven by pure epiphany, poetry is lost amongst many individuals. This misconception is challenged throughout this collection and encourages readers to embrace vulnerability through the speaker’s passage to self acceptance. In my piece, “For the Big Horns,” vulnerability is encompassed when the speaker says that “The mountain told me that we are all animals without blueprints. That people are no longer people without fear, and that fear is a root.” These lines encapsulate the speaker’s persistence to show readers an experience of humanness, …
